What is it?
This is a granite house that used to consist of two houses. The house is still in reasonable condition but does not meet modern living requirements. For the handy handyman it can be an interesting option because basically no permit is required to restore the house while retaining the current structure.
The house consists of a ground floor and a lower floor. The living floor is on the ground floor, consisting of an antechamber with a fireplace, two living/sitting rooms, three modest bedrooms, a bathroom and a kitchen. The living area is 116 m². The ground floor can be reached via a fixed internal staircase. Down here are spacious storage areas that could also be involved in the living area. Where is it?
The house is located in the small village of Ortigueira that falls under Girabolhos. These villages have no facilities, but Paranhos da Beira and Vila Nova de Tazem are about 6 km away, and they have a small-scale commercial activity. Seia and Nelas are approximately 16 and 20 km away respectively. These places are small provincial towns where the main facilities are available such as restaurants, shops, supermarkets, post office, banks, doctor’s practice, schools, vocational education, swimming pool, tennis courts, library, cultural center and weekly market. There is also a train station in Nelas. The Serra da Estrela nature reserve is 15 km away. At about 45 km lies the highest mountain and only ski slope (Torre) in Portugal.
